Q. WHERE DO I SEND DEMOS TO?

A. Please E-MAIL US links to sites hosting your band’s MP3s. That is the quickest and most effective way for us to hear your music. EPKs also work.

Q. HOW OFTEN DO YOU SIGN BANDS/WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR?

A. We sign bands whenever we find a band we love. It is really that simple, but we are VERY picky and that's why we don't sign a lot of bands. We love great songwriters who can consistently write great songs. We do not want to sign a band that has a “hit song” and nothing else. We look for bands that embrace the DIY lifestyle (practice a lot, play out a lot, booked a tour, etc.). We also have to like them as people. We have to have a really good relationship with the bands we sign. We would hate to have a band on our label who isn't cool to the fans, who has ego problems, is all about money and fame, etc., so this part is really important to us. We want to make sure they can bring it on when they play live. We are all about honesty and being straightforward, and we want bands that are the same way. We aren't about the like 98% of the industry is. One piece of advice for bands-don't sit around and wait for labels to get back to you. Play shows, keep writing songs, keep recording new demos, keep getting tighter. It will all be better for your band in the long run.

Q. HOW CAN I CONTACT A CATEGORY 5 MUSIC ARTIST TO BOOK A SHOW?

A. We always encourage fans to let us and our bands know about new cool venues/all ages venues/halls/etc. to play at. So if you want us to come to you, go to our “contact” section on the main page and send us an email with detailed info. Hopefully we’ll see you there!! Also, our artists all have websites where they have some sort of contact information posted.

Q. HOW CAN I HELP?

A. Well, it is really cool that you want to help us!!!! Some things that really help us out:
1. Of course, telling other kids about the band (in person, online) is a huge help since most of our bands aren't on radio or TV.
2. If you go to a record store that doesn't have some of the CDs in stock, it would be a HUGE help if you ask the store to order the CD for you.
3. Place banners on your site or ask other sites if they will post them for us.
4. Keep on rocking the Category 5 Music wherever you go!

Q. WHERE CAN I FIND CATEGORY 5 MUSIC RELEASES?

A. Category 5 Music releases and merchandise can be purchased through our online store on this website. Category 5 Music releases may also be found at a variety of chain and independent record stores. If your local store doesn't carry a release you are looking for - ask them to carry it. We have worldwide distribution through our partnership with The Orchard. Please visit to THE ORCHARD WEBSITE to find our artist’s releases wherever you may be in the world!

Q. HOW CAN I FIND OUT THE INSIDE SCOOP ON CATEGORY 5 BANDS?

A. All of our bands have their own websites as well as links to other sites hosting music, pics, videos, info and general gossip about them. You can also go to the BOARDS section of this website and join in on the chatter about Category 5 bands or anything else that you want to discuss!
